Missy has played pivotal roles in governmental relations, public policy development, alliance building, community networking, project and issues management, launching new products, growing associations and non-profits, and developing business and communications strategies, all skills and experiences that led her to found Mandell & Associates in 2008.
Missy has a wealth of experience working with large and small, for profit and not-for-profit companies in the energy and natural resources, environmental, water, manufacturing, industrial and technology industries to help ensure their success.
As the founder of the firm, Missy uses her vast expertise to help businesses and non-profits reach their goals by building bridges between key stakeholders in business, policy and politics; developing effective communication strategies and messaging; working with CEOs and C-Suite Executives to excel in their positions; creating strategies for launching new products; and helping businesses, associations and nonprofits grow and be successful by focusing on their strengths and clearly defining their goals.
Missy excels at forming and nurturing relationships, which has helped Mandell & Associates set a new standard in public affairs.
She began her career in Washington, D.C. with President Jimmy Carter’s presidential campaign, where she managed his D.C. and mid-Atlantic offices. She then joined his White House staff as a Special Assistant to the Deputy Director for Budget in the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and Deputy Advisor to the President for Intergovernmental Affairs. She was also a campaign manager for U.S. Representative J.J. “Jake” Pickle in Austin, which solidified her expertise in bringing together diverse entities and building consensus for a cause. She then went on to become an entrepreneur, owning and managing a cable and satellite television company as well as a public relations company with clients in the public and private sectors.
In 1989, she joined the staff of the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA), which provides wholesale energy, water, and community services in counties in Central Texas. Missy was the first woman to become a member of the senior management team and was an active part of that team for over two decades, serving in several positions including managing government relations, community and customer relations, environmental programs, communications, economic development, and human relations.
Missy continues to work hard to empower others through training, opportunity, and investment. She believes in building people up and helping them to grow individually.
Missy is also a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. A University of Texas graduate, Missy is a former Dallas Darling and Majorette for the Dallas Cowboys… the highlight of her life! She has been involved in many community activities in Central Texas, including Texas Water Trade, Friends of the Children, the American Heart Association, the Center for Child Protection, and AARO.
When she’s not working with clients or serving her community, Missy loves to read, travel, and spend time with friends and family.
“I have faith in our country and in the American People. By respecting each other, being honest, and working hard together, we will leave this world a better place.”
